Lorna A. (Gomes) Harris, 73, of East Providence passed away peacefully on April 30. Born in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Gomes Sr. and the late Audrey (Taylor) Gomes, both of Providence.

Lorna was a graduate of Central High School and was a dedicated employee of Technic Inc. for 31 years as a supervisor for precious metals.

Lorna was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth L. Harris and loving mother to April (Harris) Williams, mother-in-law to the late Larry R. Williams, Jr. and devoted grandmother to Oceana Williams. She was also the godmother to Raymond Gomes.

Lorna is survived by brothers George Perry of Pawtucket, Alfred Gomes of Connecticut, Bernard Gomes of Providence, Leonard Gomes of Cranston and Kevin Gomes of Providence. She is also survived by sisters Maureen (Reenie) Gomes of Providence and Gladys Gomes of North Providence. Lorna was preceded in death by brother Joseph Gomes Jr and sister Jean Gomes.

Lorna was the epitome of a fun loving, caring and classy lady who always put her family first in all she did. She was an avid gardener, loved to dance, and was in her glory spending time with family, whether it be a holiday, football game or an occasional trip to a local casino. She was thrilled to be able to make her bucket list trip to Las Vegas with her daughter and granddaughter. She could always be counted on to provide gum to all her nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as the “Gum Lady”.

While she was blessed with one biological child, she was a second mother to innumerable family and friends.

She will forever be missed but will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1pm until 4pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln.
Burial will be held Monday at 1pm directly at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI.
